It can be incredibly easy to get stuck in a rut in life and miss out on having exciting experiences. There are plenty of people in the world who simply work their lives away and never take time out for themselves, but with only one life to live you don’t want to spend it with nothing but regrets. By living a more fulfilled and adventurous life you’ll have a broader perspective of the world and become a more courageous person.
Explore The Great Outdoors
One of the greatest pleasures can come from going back to basics and camping outside. Not only will you have a greater appreciation of nature, you can exercise your inner survival skills and get away from the materialistic world for a while. Before you set off on this journey, you’ll need a reliable camping tent, some easy to cook food so you don’t starve to death and a companion to share the experience with.
Manage Your Self-Respect: Face Your Fears
There’s no greater way to become more adventurous then to confront a fear head on. If you’re scared of heights then go climbing or take a leap out of a plane. If there’s a particular animal that gives you the shakes, then go seek it out at the zoo and face it head on. Not only will you feel more courageous, but you’ll also feel a sense of pride that you managed to do something that your fear had previously crippled you from doing.
If you find that you have a lot of spare time and nothing to do, then you’ll need to start scheduling your time better.
No one remembers those exciting memories where they stayed at home all day and watched TV, so fill your days with lots of fun activities. If you’re prone to losing hours, then create a schedule to get a broader view of how much time you have and fill it up with fun activities.
Give Your Self-Respect a Boost – Always Sample New Things!
Always aim to experience as many new things as possible, from different foods to researching different ways of doing things. If you have a habit of ordering the same things over and over or can only cook a small list of foods, then you’ll benefit most from this point. Even if it has an ingredient you’re sure you don’t like, give it a go and you may surprise yourself. Try and tackle some random foods that you’ve never even heard of before and broaden your horizons.
Travel The World!
This point shouldn’t come as a surprise, but one of the greatest ways to feel more adventurous is to go out and have more adventures! Travel the world and see what else it has to offer and experience places that have a different way of life and values than what you’re used to.
If you’re going to face your fears and go on more adventures, you’re not going to do that with a pessimistic attitude. This is easier than it sounds, but just create a positive twist on whatever isn’t going according to plan for you.
Half the battle of becoming more adventurous is the mental decision to make a change in your life, and the rest is simply going out and making it happen. If you’re a little anxious about stepping out of your comfort zones then try and rope in a good friend and become more adventurous together!
What adventure would you like to take on? What’s stopping you from doing it?
